Morgan Freeman blasts step-granddaughter wedding rumours

Morgan Freeman has lashed out at bizarre reports he is planning to marry his young step-granddaughter.

The Shawshank Redemption star has always refused to entertain gossip about his relationship with E'Dena Hines, the 27-year-old granddaughter of his first wife Jeanette Adair Bradshaw, but after reports emerged about wedding plans this week (beg09Apr12), the actor felt compelled to speak out.

He tells TMZ.Com, "The recent reports of any pending marriage or romantic relationship of me to anyone are defamatory fabrications from the tabloid media designed to sell papers.

"What is even more alarming is that these fabrications are now being picked up by the legitimate press as well."

Hines also refuted the reports, adding, "These stories about me and my grandfather are not only untrue, they are also hurtful to me and my family."

Freeman divorced Bradshaw in 1979. He and Hines are not related by blood.
