Miley Cyrus has added a new member to her family after adopting a new dog.

The Wrecking Ball star, who is an avid animal rights activist, has taken in many dogs in the past and now she has added a beagle named Barbie to her pack.

"Happy to introduce the newest member of my family Barbie @beaglefreedom #stopanimaltesting #donttestonbeagles," she wrote on Instagram.com.

"Sisterzzzz!!!! Barbie (loves) Tani!!!! @beaglefreedom #stopbeagletesting #loveanimalsdontharmthem," she added alongside a picture of Barbie and another of her pet pooches.

The 23-year-old also posted a picture of cleaning products in her house which aren't "cruelty free", urging her fans not to use the brands because company researchers allegedly conduct product tests on animals.

"what do allllll (sic) of these things have in common!," she wrote. "None of them are cruelty free! Bite back ! @beaglefreedom".

News of Miley's latest adoption comes in the same weekend (02-03Jul16), the pop superstar was spotted with former fiance Liam Hemsworth on an outing in Malibu, California.

Miley and Liam reunited last year (15), but have been keeping a low profile since confirming the rekindled relationship.

"I just find it's easier to not talk about my personal life because usually I say the wrong thing, so it ends up just complicating things more," he told Entertainment Tonight in May (16). "So, I feel like it's better not to talk about it."

Rumors have swirled for months suggesting the couple is heading down the aisle in the near future, but in April (16), Liam denied the two were engaged again.

However, when Miley and Liam do decide to wed, they already have a volunteer lined up to officiate the ceremony - Miley's dad, Billy Ray Cyrus, who portrays a dysfunctional Elvis Presley-loving preacher in his new TV comedy Still the King.

He recently told breakfast show Today, "They know if they need a preacher they've found one!"
