Michelle Branch engaged to Black Keys drummer

Singer/songwriter Michelle Branch is engaged to Black Keys drummer Patrick Carney.

The musician celebrated her 34th birthday on Sunday (02Jul17), and got the best present when Patrick popped the question just as she was about to blow out the candles on her cake.

Sharing a picture of her Art Deco style engagement ring on Instagram, Michelle wrote: "I had nothing left to wish for. 34 might be the best year yet."

Michelle previously credited Patrick for being her personal and professional savior, as he came along during a low point in her life, after she was dropped by bosses at Warner Bros. and newly single after her marriage to musician Teddy Landau came to an end.

At a party, she got chatting to her now fiance and asked him to help her with some new music.

"I was so defeated and upset," she told Elle.com. "Then Patrick said, 'I believe in this album. Do you believe in this album?' For the first time, I had someone in my life who wasn't getting a check from me, encouraging me to show up for myself."

The couple became great collaborators, friends and then lovers while working in the studio on her new album.
