Meek Mill back in court for possible probation violation

Written by . Published: December 11 2015

Rapper Meek Mill was back in court on Thursday (10Dec15) for allegedly violating the terms of his probation.

The Ima Boss hitmaker spent eight months in jail for a drug and guns conviction in 2008 and upon his release he was sentenced to five years probation. However, in July, 2014, he violated the terms of his parole and subsequently spent another five months behind bars.

Now, he is reportedly facing yet another parole violation, and was back in a Philadelphia, Pennsylvania courtroom on Thursday to deny the allegations he slipped up again.

According to TMZ.com, Meek, real name Robert Rihmeek Williams, allegedly violated the terms of his probation by traveling outside Philadelphia without first securing a "travel voucher" from a probation official. The rapper's trip to the American Music Awards with his girlfriend Nicki Minaj on 22 November (15) was reportedly unsanctioned.

According to local news station NBC 10, Common Pleas Judge Genece Brinkley is threatening to send the hip-hop star back to jail, noting Mill submitted a "suspicious urine sample".

His lawyer Frank DeSimone used Williams' romance in his bid to keep the rapper out of jail, stating, "He is serious about getting married" to Minaj and pointing out she would not marry a "criminal or bum".

Minaj attended the courthouse session where she was ready to testify on her boyfriend's behalf as WENN went to press.

Prior to his day in court, Williams took to Instagram.com and asked fans for their prayers and support as he faced his latest legal battle.

"I'm actually fighting for my life and freedom," he wrote. "Something I've been going thru from a case I caught at 19 years old and been on probation since... I am 28 now... It's funny to see people on the internet laughing and joking about me and my family going thru these things, it's just shows me where the world is at nowadays!

"But if you are for me prayers up and wish me the best! Thank you to everybody that ever supported and I will continue to b great! If this is my last post know I will continue to remain strong and grow to b a better man and set a example for every minority with a dream that anything is possible! Trials and tribulations and chances makes chances & never lose faith! No matter how things go. PRAYERS UP!!"
