Margot Robbie lied to optometrist to get glasses

Margot Robbie lied to an optometrist to get glasses because she wanted to look like boy wizard Harry Potter.

The Wolf of Wall Street actress, who is gearing up to celebrate her 26th birthday on 2 July (16), shared an embarrassing picture from her 13th birthday during her appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Tuesday night (28Jun16) in which she is wearing glasses she doesn't even need.

In the snap, she is laying in bed, holding a copy of the novel Harry Potter and the Order of Phoenix and holding a cup of tea, while her brown hair is slicked back in a ponytail and she is wearing glasses and braces.

Margot admitted to Jimmy that she wore spectacles simply because she was such a big Harry Potter fan. She says, "I'm wearing glasses, which I didn't actually need. I have 20/20 vision and I lied to get glasses so I could look like Harry Potter. They're not even cool ones. They're, like, ugly glasses.

"I went to the optometrist and I was like, 'I can't see that. Ow! My eyes hurt!'" she said. "My mom's like, 'Do you really need glasses?' I was like, 'Yes, I do!'"

She called the picture "literally the most embarrassing photo of my whole life," and explained that she had braces for two years and had a habit of slicking her hair back, "God knows why".

During the interview, Margot said she spent her 25th birthday on the set of Suicide Squad, so she will be making the most of her 26th with friends. "We're going to have a little Hawaiian luau, because why the hell not?" she said. "We're going to go all out - coconut bras and grass skirts for the boys."
