Madonna tops wealthiest recording artist list

Madonna has toppled Sir Paul McCartney as the world's wealthiest recording artist, according to a new poll.

The Material Girl crashes in at number one on the Wealth-X countdown with a net worth valuation of $800 million (GBP533 million) - $140 million (GBP93 million) more than McCartney, who just edges out rap mogul and Beats boss Dr. Dre for second place.

Diddy and Celine Dion round out the top five, while U2 star Bono, Mariah Carey, Jay Z, Sir Elton John and Beyonce all make the top 10.
