Lena Dunham mocks Melania Trump ahead of Democratic Convention
Lena Dunham has poked fun at Melania Trump following claims she plagiarised a Michelle Obama speech.
The Girls actress is firmly on the side of Hillary Clinton, the presumptive Democratic candidate for President. Announcing she is set to speak at the Democratic National Convention, Lena took the opportunity to reference allegations that Melania lifted several sections from a former speech by First Lady Michelle when she took to the stage at the Republican National Convention on Monday (18Jul16).
"My soul sister @americaferrera and I are headed to the Democratic
National Convention to speak as a team in support of
@hillaryclinton," Lena wrote on Instagram alongside a picture of
herself and America holding a T-shirt bearing the slogan Love
trumps hate. "The honour! The thrill! We promise not to copy off
Michelle Obama's homework, dreamy as she is #imwithher."
Lena's announcement came after Kick-Ass actress Chloe Grace Moretz
confirmed she will also be speaking at the Democratic convention,
which will take place at Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia,
Pennsylvania from 25 to 28 July (16).
Chloe wrote on her Instagram page: "I am so happy to announce I
will be speaking At the democratic national convention ! #DNC
#ImWithHer going to be such a beautiful historic day and I can't
believe I have the immense honour of being part of it. Thank you
@hillaryclinton!"
Of the star-studded line-up for the convention, the organisers said
in a statement: "While Republican leadership continues to run away
from Donald Trump, and refuse to participate in the upcoming
Republican convention, the Democratic convention will showcase
enormously popular national leaders, rising stars from across the
country and a diverse range of everyday Americans who will inspire
the nation."
Other famous faces to appear at the convention will include Katy
Perry, Eva Longoria, Alicia Keys, Demi Lovato and Debra
Messing.
