Lady Gaga named magazine editor of the year
Lady Gaga is to be honored as Daily Front Row's Editor of The Year thanks to her work for fashion publication V Magazine.
The Applause singer took charge of the magazine's January (16) issue, serving as both guest editor and cover girl, appearing on the front of an unprecedented 16 different front pages.
And now her work is being honored by officials at fashion site
Daily Front Row, who will present her with the Editor of the Year
title at the second annual Fashion Los Angeles Awards in West
Hollywood on Sunday (20Mar16).
"We are absolutely thrilled to honor Lady Gaga with this award,"
Daily Front Row's editor-in-chief Brandusa Niro says in a
statement. "She is an enormous talent and one of the most complex
and astonishing artists of our time. She masterminded a
record-setting 16 covers for the pre-Spring issue and edited the
the entire magazine.
"We celebrate her tremendous contributions to music, fashion, film,
and culture, all reflected in the way she conceptualized her issue
of V Magazine, and these breathtaking covers."
Among the 16 covers was a revealing portrait of Gaga and her actor
fiance Taylor Kinney, who posed naked after having sex on a paint
canvas.
In her guest editor's letter, she wrote, "We made love on the
canvas on a Sunday in Chicago. We made love amidst chaos. We talked
about shootings. We made love amidst terrorism. And we talked about
how people's hearts are also suffering all over the world as they
watch and witness a swell of violence. We made love amidst
violence."
The result of their tryst is a colorful abstract painting, which
was also featured in the magazine.
Proceeds from the $50 magazine benefited Gaga's Born This Way
Foundation.
Reality TV star-turned-fashion designer Nicole Richie will host
Sunday's ceremony, where supermodel Gigi Hadid's younger sister
Bella will be honored with the Model of the Year title, and Tobey
Maguire's jewelry designer wife Jennifer Meyer and Chanel
mastermind Karl Lagerfeld will be feted with special accolades as
well.
