Kim Kardashian: 'Kanye would have preferred it if I stayed away from Taylor Swift drama'
Kanye West would have preferred his wife to stay out of his spat with Taylor Swift.
Kim Kardashian revealed the pop singer and her husband did have a phone chat about the lyrics to his Famous track, in which he joked about sleeping with Swift and boasted about making her a household name following his stage invasion protest at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards.
Swift's publicist had previously dismissed reports suggesting the
Love Story singer and Kanye had discussed the controversial
lyrics.
The drama was brought up again during a recent Billboard interview,
which prompted Kim to groan, "Ugh, do we really have to talk about
Taylor Swift?"
She then added, "I'm so over it. If it were up to Kanye, it all
would probably never have come out. He can handle it, he has no
hard feelings. He doesn't even really care. I just wanted to
protect my husband.
"It was like, 'OK, here's the truth'. Done. Let's all move on. I
feel like I don't want to talk about her anymore."
But while Kanye would like Kim to stay out of his beefs and feuds,
he appreciates her creative input when it comes to his songs,
videos, stage shows and fashion ventures.
"I'll be a full critic," she tells Billboard. "I could just say,
'OK, the lighting should be different here'. He loves the opinion.
And then he will go into rehearsal the whole next day and totally
perfect it."
Kardashian also tells the magazine that she didn't just fall into
reality TV - she dreamed of becoming a star ever since she watched
MTV's The Real World as a kid.
"I was like, 'Oh, my God, that's what I want to do!'" she says.
"It's crazy that it has come full circle - the producers of my show
were the ones that created The Real World."
But her start in that world wasn't all that inspiring - she'd hang
out with reality TV stars like Paris Hilton but spend all her time
on her phone: "I just thank God for my rhinestone Sidekick. I would
sit there checking Myspace all the time. They probably thought I
was so boring."
