Kerry Washington is OPI’s new creative ambassador
Kerry Washington has been named Opi’s new creative ambassador and will co-design a range of nail polishes for the company.
The Scandal actress will team up with the brand’s co-founder and creative director Suzi Weiss-Fischmann on the polishes, but no further details are known yet.
For beauty fan Kerry, this will be a dream come true. “Suzi’s such
a fierce female entrepreneur,” she told WWD. “This is going to be a
lot of fun. I’m looking forward to testing out new colors on the
red carpet. The fun, for me, is that nail lives in the crossover
space between fashion and beauty. I love to play with nail color on
the red carpet and explore new shades.”
Suzi immediately knew she wanted to work with Kerry as she’s so
impressed by the star’s “sophisticated style”. Kerry is in good
company, as musician Gwen Stefani has also worked with OPI in the
past.
“I’m also a big fan of Gwen Stefani’s line for OPI,” she smiled.
“She has done such a great job having her collection represent her
- not just with OPI, but through everything she’s done. If I can do
something similar, I will be very happy.”
Kerry is well and truly making her mark in the beauty world, also
holding the post as creative consultant at Neutrogena since 2013.
She’s helping to expand its foundation range to provide colors for
women of all ethnicities and is also developing lipsticks.
“I want to increase access to beauty to women of all ethnicities,”
she explained. “Nude looks different depending on your skin tone
and that’s the fashion and beauty world I want to live in, where
everyone has the ability to express the beauty that reflects them.
I love being able to be an influencer in the space.”
