Kate Hudson: 'Alkaline monitoring keeps me trim'
Actress Kate Hudson puts her incredible shape down to an alkaline diet.
The 36-year-old actress wowed on the red carpet at the 2016 Golden Globe Awards on Sunday (10Jan16) in a two-piece coral outfit designed by Michael Kors, showing off her rock hard abs and other muscles, and she admits she keeps her body in top condition by following an alkaline diet, which focuses on balancing pH levels and acidity.
"I live by a rule book of eating alkaline - no meat, no dairy, no
gluten (and) I try to stay away from sugar - but I'll cheat when I
want to, since I'm a bit of a foodie," she told People magazine. "I
try not to make it not so much about dieting, but rather everything
in moderation."
Hudson, who is a co-founder of activewear brand Fabletics, sticks
to a regular fitness routine, but when a major red carpet event is
on her schedule, she steps her exercise up a notch.
"While I try to keep my fitness regimen consistent, during awards
season, I'm especially conscious of what I'll be wearing and plan
my workouts accordingly," she shared. "If I plan to wear a
sleeveless dress, I concentrate more on my arms during my workout
the day before. If my outfit includes a short dress, I incorporate
more leg moves and squats."
The star is also open to beauty enhancements before attending a
major event.
"If I feel like I need a little color, I'll get a natural spray
tan," she noted. "Not only does this give me a little extra
coverage, but it also allows me to achieve the bronzed look I want
without the sun damage."
Hudson also likes to work on her famously calm red carpet
demeanour, revealing a dedicated meditation practice helps her keep
cool as the flashbulbs are popping.
"This is a key part of my daily routine, even if it's just five
minutes when I focus and quiet my mind," she said. "Typically, I
concentrate on a color and set intentions such as clarity, peace,
calmness and love. I focus in on these intentions and breathe."
