Karlie Kloss was once called fat and thin on same day

Karlie Kloss was once called both “too fat" and "too thin” in just one day.

The 24-year-old model has been in the industry for around 10 years now, working with everyone from Victoria’s Secret to Marc Jacobs.

Although she stands at 6ft 2in and boasts a slender physique, that doesn’t mean Karlie hasn’t experienced body-shaming first hand.

“I was called both too fat and too thin by a casting agent on the same day,” she sighed to Hearst chief content officer Joanna Coles during a discussion at Cannes Lions on Monday (19Jun17), adding she wishes designers would take different shapes and sizes into account in their womenswear.

She remained defiant against those who insulted her figure though, telling the audience at her talk, “I don’t want to please anyone but myself.”

It was these strong words, along with her explanation of how she focuses on her health and wellbeing rather than her weight, that won the blonde beauty a standing ovation from the crowd. And proving she puts herself first, the fashion star also posted a photo of herself eating an ice cream on Instagram on Monday, with a dog sitting by her feet.

“Should we lady and the tramp this?” she captioned the cute shot, referring to the 1955 Disney movie in which the titular canine characters share a bowl of spaghetti.

At the event, Karlie also spoke about her Kode with Klossy coding camp for young women, which is now in its second year and has expanded to 15 different sites over 10 cities during the summer.

While the star loves the opportunities that modeling brings her, she’s adamant her enthusiasm for technology will continue as she quipped, “At my core, I am totally a nerd. I love understanding how things work.”

Joking that computer science may not be the “sexiest thing” out there, she insisted she’s extremely passionate about it and it’s a genuine interest of hers.
