Justin Bieber 'turned down $5 million to perform at a GOP event' - report

Justin Bieber has reportedly turned down millions of dollars to perform at an event linked to the Republican party.

According to editors at TMZ, the pop star allegedly skipped out on a $5 million payday in exchange for performing at an event during at the GOP convention.

The Sorry singer was reportedly asked to perform a 45 minute set by GOP donors at the Quicken Loans Arena, the same venue where the Republican National Convention was being held. However, TMZ claim Bieber's manager Scooter Braun and his representatives at Creative Artists Agency (CAA) advised him against accepting the gig.

Promoters for the show apparently claimed it wasn't a political event, nor an endorsement of Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump but TMZ's editors allege Braun and CAA believed it would be "100% political" and as such declined the offer.

The Grammy-winning Canadian singer cannot vote in the U.S. election, and to date has not declared an affiliation with any political party.

Manager Braun and his wife Yael are hosting a $2,700 per-plate fundraiser for Hillary Clinton on 6 Aug (16) at their home in Los Angeles, reports Variety.
