Justin Bieber taken off formal probation
Justin Bieber is no longer on formal probation after impressing officials with his behavior following his 2014 arrest for vandalism.
The What Do You Mean? star was busted after pelting his former neighbor's Calabasas, California property with eggs in January, 2014. He pleaded no contest to the misdemeanor that July (14) and was subsequently placed on probation. He was also ordered to serve five days of manual labor, enroll in an anger management course, and pay restitution to the alleged victim, Jeff Schwartz.
He completed his counseling classes in May (15) and was granted an
extension for his community service in August (15) after an ankle
injury delayed his efforts.
Despite the setback, his probation officer heaped praise on his
work at a progress hearing on 13 October (15), and on Monday
(02Nov15), after completing the labor sentence, he was officially
taken off formal probation.
According to TMZ.com, Justin received another glowing report from
the probation representative, who was impressed with the 21 year
old's changed attitude. He will remain on probation until next year
(16).
The singer moved out of the gated community months after his
arrest, but the legal issue is not yet over - his former neighbor
is suing Justin for the emotional distress.
The positive probation news comes at a good time for the pop
superstar, who is gearing up to release his comeback album,
Purpose, next week (13Nov15).
Justin hit headlines for his wild antics and his other run-ins with
police during his break from music, but as he launched his chart
comeback earlier this year (15), he vowed to become a better
person.
The singer admits he is still working on correcting his bad boy
ways and he has some way to go.
"There's so much I need to work on," he told Britain's Telegraph
magazine this week (begs02Nov15). "And I'm still getting days where
I'm depressed and upset. But I know that I'm not where I used to
be. So that really keeps me motivated. I'm not where I wanna be -
but at least I'm not where I used to be... that's a cool little
slogan I've been living by."
Justin's comments were published days after he stormed offstage in
Norway after becoming angered by fans continually grabbing his
legs. He subsequently apologized for the concert walkout on
Instagram.com, blaming his behavior on "a rough week" with "long
days" and "no sleep".
