John Legend: 'Fertility treatments are nothing to be ashamed about'
John Legend wants to breakdown the stigma associated with fertility treatments.
The 37-year-old singer has been very open about the fact that he and wife Chrissy Teigen underwent in vitro fertilization (IVF) to conceive their daughter Luna, now seven months old.
And during an appearance on U.K. TV show Loose Women on Monday
(12Dec16), the All of Me crooner said he believes it's an option
that should be carefully considered by couples who are finding it
difficult to start their families.
"A lot of people struggle with fertility and they shouldn't be
ashamed of it. A lot of people want to have kids and maybe can't do
it the natural way," he said. "And this is an option that's
available to a lot of people so I think people should do it if it's
the right thing for them."
Both John and Chrissy have also been honest about wanting more
children in the future, with the singer saying he would have no
qualms about going through IVF for a second time.
"Yeah, we'll do it again - we want to have three or four (kids),"
he added.
The couple frequently post pictures of their baby girl on social
media, with the majority of fans quick to gush about the gorgeous
tot. However, they have fallen victim of Internet trolls, with John
admitting it's their political views that seem to have attracted
the most criticism.
"We do get a lot of trolls. I don't know if you guys heard but we
had a pretty wild election season this year, and Chrissy and I
spoke about the election and how we did not want (Donald) Trump to
become our president. So a lot of the trolls we get now are people
responding to that," he said.
"But I think Twitter and all of social media has a way of making
people feeling like they're right there and that can be good in a
lot of ways, and sometimes be bad in other ways."
