John Boyega oversleeps and nearly misses Star Wars press conference
British actor John Boyega turned up halfway through the London press conference for Star Wars: Episode Vii - The Force Awakens on Thursday (17Dec15) because he overslept.
The Londoner, who plays Finn in the sci-fi blockbuster, took his family and friends to the European premiere of the movie in Leicester Square on Wednesday night (16Dec15) to celebrate its debut in his hometown.
The following morning, he had difficulties getting out of bed and
nearly missed a cast press conference at the Corinthia Hotel
because he overslept.
John arrived more than half an hour after the event was originally
due to kick off, and only made it in time as the junket was pushed
back by 15 minutes.
As John dashed in the doors to the conference, the film's co-writer
Lawrence Kasdan announced, "John Boyega!" and the cast and audience
cheered at his arrival.
Explaining his delay, he said, "Apologies guys. I overslept", and
when the moderator asked if he had a big night, John replied,
"Very, very busy night, obviously."
When he answered the first question directed him, John jokingly
observed how husky his voice sounded, saying, "Wow my voice is so
sexy and deep in the morning!"
He was joined by co-stars Carrie Fisher, Harrison Ford, Daisy
Ridley, Adam Driver, Lupita Nyong'o and Gwendoline Christie, and
director J.J. Abrams.
