Jennifer Lawrence's hearing woes on Hunger Games set
Jennifer Lawrence has opened up about the injuries she suffered while filming The Hunger Games sequel, revealing a water pump burst her eardrum and she was partially deaf for weeks.
The Oscar winner was plagued by ear infections while filming The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, causing her to lose the hearing in one ear.
Her health woes were then magnified when powerful sprays of water,
intended to simulate stormy weather during a hurricane scene,
punctured her eardrum.
The actress detailed her hearing issues during an online
question-and-answer session with co-stars Liam Hemsworth and Josh
Hutcherson, and director Francis Lawrence.
She says, "I went deaf in one ear for two and a half weeks. I had a
double ear infection, because I had to keep diving into the
water... and then I had to jump into this water that was supposed
to be like hurricane water so there were these really powerful jets
and the ear that was infected I had to turn (towards the jets) and
the jets... punctured my ear drum."
