James Van Der Beek loaned ID to underage Justin Timberlake
Actor James Van Der Beek helped Justin Timberlake sneak into a nightclub when he was underage by lending him his identification card.
The Dawson's Creek star met the pop singer when he was a member of boyband 'NSync back in the 1990s, and they teamed up for a night out in Las Vegas on New Year's Eve (31Dec).
Van Der Beek reveals Timberlake, who is four years his junior, was
too young to go clubbing, so he gave him his ID to get him past the
bouncers.
In a web chat on Huffingtonpost.com, the 37-year-old actor reveals,
"I was in Vegas one New Year's and somebody came by and said, 'N
Sync wants to meet you!'... So, I said, 'OK.' And I met them and
they were so sweet. They were so nice. They were such cool kids and
I immediately liked them. I remember that night, we were all going
to some club and they were all too young. And so I went in and
somehow passed my ID back so that Justin could get in with my ID.
Justin used it to get in."
However, the plan failed when Timberlake tried to use the same card
to sneak his bandmate Lance Bass into the club.
Van Der Beek adds, "(Timberlake) then tried to pass it off to
(Bass) to get in. By the third time (the bouncers) saw a James Van
Der Beek ID, they were like, 'Ah, I don't think so, James.'"
