James McAvoy carries Olympic torch
James Mcavoy beamed with pride on Friday (08Jun12) as he carried the Olympic torch through his native Scotland.
The Atonement star ran with the famed flame in Glasgow and was watched by hundreds of locals who had lined the route for the event ahead of the London 2012 Games this summer (12).
He tells Britain's ITV News, "The fact that they do something like
this and they visit every town and they visit all the different
places and everybody can get involved and really feel like its
personal to them, I think makes it really special so I'm really
honored to be involved."
Rapper will.i.am, musicians Muse and Melanie Chisholm and actor
Matt Smith are among the stars who have also carried the Olympic
torch as part of its 70-day journey around the U.K., and Scottish
singer Emeli Sande is due to run with the flame on Saturday
(09Jun12).
She tells the U.K.'s Daily Record newspaper, "I found out a few
days ago in New York that I'm going to be running with the torch
and that is really exciting and an honor to do.
"I think that's going to be a really special moment. I'm trying not
to think about falling over, the flame going out or my hair going
on fire."
