Jack Black the victim of another cruel death hoax

Written by . Published: June 06 2016

Reports of funnyman and rocker Jack Black's death have been exposed as a sick hoax.

The shocking 'news' first appeared on his band Tenacious D's Twitter account on Sunday morning (05Jun16), but it appears the tweet was the work of hackers.

The band later posted a message on the same Twitter account assuring concerned fans the 46-year-old was alive and well.

"WE had our Twitter account hacked," the band stated. "We can assure you that Jack is ALIVE and WELL and that this was a sick prank."

John Konesky, a guitar player with Tenacious D, also confirmed the tweet was the work of a hacker.

Black and his representatives have yet to make a statement.

It is believed the School of Rock star is on his way home to Los Angeles after performing at two music festivals in Germany over the weekend (03&04Jun16).

As thousands of worried fans hit social media looking for more information about Black's apparent death, the hacker returned to the Tenacious D Twitter account and confirmed he or she was joking, adding, "Calm down guys, it's just a prank, bro...", and assured fans, "The Legend is still alive, it is ok guys".

This is not the first time Black has been the victim of an online hoax - in 2012 reports suggested he had fallen to his death from a cliff in New Zealand, while another in 2014 suggested he had died after suffering a stroke.

Black was caught up in another drama during Tenacious D's German trek - Black and his longtime sidekick Kyle Gass performed at the Rock Am Ring festival, which was shut down on Sunday (05Jun16) due to severe storm warnings.
