Iggy Azalea inks second TV production deal
Rapper Iggy Azalea is expanding her TV resume by signing another production deal.
The Fancy star is teaming up with bosses at Universal Cable Productions and Wilshire Studios to develop programmes about social justice and empowerment, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
''Creating television that is reflective of my generation has
always been an aspiration of mine," she says. "I am incredibly
excited to start working on my ideas and am humbled that Universal
Cable Productions and Wilshire Studios have given me this
once-in-a-life time opportunity.''
The news comes a month after the 26-year-old announced a major deal
between her Azalea Street production company and bosses at NBC
Universal in July (16).
Iggy, real name Amethyst Kelly, posted a photo of the company's
logo, which features two intersecting street signs with the words
"Azalea St." and "Productions" in a black-and-white
illustration.
She added the caption, "Wanted to share with everyone that my
production company 'Azalea Street' has just signed on to create
original content for UniversalNBC! So guys, I'm an Executive
Producer for at least a few years to come! Hopefully many!
"Lots of scripted series in the works! Lots of interesting ideas!
I've been working on this for a long time now and can't wait to
share more info with you soon."
Her firm's name comes from the Australian street she grew up on,
and also served as the inspiration for her stage name.
Her new ventures follow her recent split from ex-fiance and
basketball star Nick Young in June (16). Their romance of nearly
three years ended amid allegations of his infidelity.
