Hugh Grant's baby mother wins court injunction against paparazzi 'harassment'
The actress mother of Hugh Grant's baby daughter has been granted a court order banning members of the paparazzi from harassing her after complaining her life had become "unbearable".
The Notting Hill star was revealed to have become a first-time father in October (11) following a brief fling with a woman, believed to have been little-known Chinese model/actress Tinglan Hong, earlier this year (11).
Tinglan Hong has now confirmed she is the mother of Grant's baby
after filing a request for an injunction at London's High
Court.
In her legal papers, she claimed she was constantly being hounded
by photographers and revealed the media scrutiny had intensified
since a front page article ran in the now-defunct British tabloid
News of the World, identifying her as "Hugh's Secret Girl" and
speculating on whether she was pregnant.
Tinglan Hong alleged she had been "unable to look after her
daughter in a normal way" as a result of the constant paparazzi
presence.
She also claimed that she had become the victim of threatening
phone messages from mystery callers after Hugh Grant appeared on
U.K. TV and spoke out about the News of the World phone hacking
scandal, in which he is said to have been targeted.
Hugh Grant has been named a "core participant" in the
investigation, which prompted media mogul Rupert Murdoch to shut
down the Sunday publication this summer (11) after it was
discovered a private investigator working for the tabloid had
illegally gleaned information about headline-grabbing stories from
private phone conversations and voicemails from celebrities and
politicians.
Judge Michael Tugendhat approved Hong's protective order
"prohibiting harassment" last week (ends11Nov11) and his decision
was made public on Friday (18Nov11).
In his written ruling, Tugendhat states that although Hugh Grant is
famous, Tinglan Hong has "never sought any publicity or been known
to the public for any reason".
