Haim hoping to start all-female music festival

Sibling trio Haim are hoping to start their own music festival featuring only female artists.

The Wire singers recently ended their journey as the opening act for Taylor Swift's 1989 tour, and their collaboration on the road made them realise there aren't enough female musicians featured in some of the biggest music events around the world.

"We talk about this all the time, how there aren't enough female represented bands and artists at festivals," Este Haim told Vulture.com. "You don't see them. And it's really sad for us. We came up with the idea basically of why can't we just bring back a festival that's just ladies - not that we don't love the boys. Love the men."

The sisters envision something similar to Sarah McLachlan famous Lilith Fair, which took place during the summers of 1997 to 1999, and featured acts such as Sheryl Crow, Jewel and Lisa Loeb.

Lilith Fair was briefly revived in 2010, but Este and her two younger sisters are hoping to embody its spirit for a new all-female festival, with a dream line-up including Swift, Lorde, Florence + the Machine, Jenny Lewis and Chvrches.

"I did see Melissa Etheridge in concert, I saw Sarah McLachlan in concert, I saw Paula Cole in concert and Sheryl Crow," Este explained. "All these amazing ladies had such an amazing outlet and place to play music, and it was really beautiful, and I feel like that's not really available anymore and that outlet isn't there. We talk semi-jokingly but semi-seriously about making it happen. So stay tuned. I think that would be really magical."
