Hailee Steinfeld joins Pitch Perfect sequel

Actress Hailee Steinfeld is joining the cast of the upcoming sequel to Pitch Perfect.

The True Grit star will show off her singing skills in the highly-anticipated follow-up to the 2012 film, centred upon a college a cappella group.

Elizabeth Banks, who starred and executive produced the first film, will direct the sequel, which has already begun production in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

She took to Twitter.com on Wednesday (30Apr14) to announce Steinfeld's casting and wrote, "@HaileeSteinfeld Welcome to the Barden Bellas! Now lace up your dancing shoes, and get your tush down to Baton Rouge."

Original stars Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson and Brittany Snow are set to reprise their roles in the new film, which is slated to hit cinemas next May (15).
