Gina Rodriguez planning education charity with sisters
Puerto Rican actress Gina Rodriguez is hoping the international success of her hit show Jane The Virgin helps her charity dreams come true.
The pretty star is keen to create a foundation to "help with education and contribute to ending child hunger" with her two sisters, a doctor and an investment banker, and now her show, which started life as a Venezuelan telenovela, is on air in 170 TV markets, she's hoping her work as a philanthropist will get a little boost from her fame.
Rodriguez tells Adweek she's also working on a new book and a few
films: "Ideally, the series will last three or four seasons. I'll
do films during my hiatus, making films under my company, I Can and
I Will Productions. I would love to produce films and TV shows
myself, to help promote stories about diverse cultures and to put
on screen what we see in real life.
"I'm working on my book this hiatus. It's been my goal to write an
empowering book for youth."
