Gina Rodriguez needed new look after movie role

Gina Rodriguez dyed her hair blonde to escape from her character in Annihilation.

The Jane the Virgin star cut her hair and shaved the side of her head for the new film, about a biologist on a secret expedition, and the 32-year-old admits she had a tough time breaking free from the character, opting for a new look to start afresh.

"The character that I played in this last film, Annihilation, was really hardcore and really different than anything I've ever done to be very honest.

"When I came back (from filming) I just couldn't not see the character, so I was like, 'I'm going blonde'," she tells Access Hollywood. "I've kind of always wanted to, you know? I feel like every girl wants to (go blonde) once in their life."
