Frugal Mila Kunis paid $90 for an Etsy wedding ring
Mila Kunis paid $90 for her wedding ring on Etsy.
The 32-year-old was given a "stunning, stunning" engagement ring by Ashton Kutcher when he proposed in February 2014. But when it came to choosing a wedding band for the pair's nuptials in July 2015, Mila went for something a lot more understated, and undoubtedly significantly cheaper.
"For our wedding bands, for when we got married, I decided to get
them off of Etsy," Mila said during an appearance on chat show
Conan on Wednesday night (27Jul16).
Etsy is a website that specialises in selling homemade, vintage and
unique factory-manufactured items. After Mila's admission, host
Conan O'Brien praised her for always being "frugal", to which the
actress replied: "That's a nice way of saying cheap, but yes."
In fact, Mila had such a specific vision for what she wanted for
her wedding band that she spent a long time hunting for the
perfect, reasonably-priced one.
"I wanted the thinnest possible platinum band - it's super, super
thin," she explained. "And so I went and looked (in jewelry stores)
and I was like, 'They're how much? This is astronomical!' So I went
on Etsy and I was like, $90! Buy now! (This ring was) $90
everybody!"
The value of the band also means that pregnant mother-of-one Mila
isn't worried about wearing it on a daily basis. But it's another
story when it comes to her glittering diamond engagement ring.
"It's not a big deal," she insisted. "My engagement ring is
beautiful but I don't ever wear it. This ring, I'm like, 'It's $90,
it's great!' "
Buying something on Etsy also requires a direct conversation
between the buyer and the seller. However, Mila added that her
seller had no idea of the celebrity status of her purchasers.
"The person on Etsy had no clue whose ring they were making but
they were wonderful and very nice and polite and generous," she
smiled.
