Hilary Duff ups security after police warn her about obsessed fan - report
Hilary Duff has reportedly upped her security after being warned by police about an obsessed fan.
The Younger actress is said to have been contacted by officers in Beverly Hills earlier this month (Jul16) when the man hired a limousine on his quest to track down the star.
According to TMZ.com, the man instructed the vehicle's driver to
travel around Los Angeles looking for Hilary. He is said to have
been holding a crib that he said Hilary owned, but claimed he did
not have her address to return it to her.
The website adds that the man proceeded to tell the limo driver
about his intention to marry Hilary, with his words leaving the
driver so concerned that he called the police.
Officers then apparently contacted Hilary's team, who were already
aware of the man and knew what he looked like. They are said to
have had issues with him in the past, but things haven't gone far
enough for Hilary to seek a restraining order or file a police
report.
However, in a bid to protect herself from the man, Hilary is said
to have increased the amount of people on her security detail, as
well as informing the guards at the gated community in which she
lives of the situation so they are on high alert.
It's not the first time Hilary has found herself the victim of a
stalker. In November 2006, Russian immigrant Maksim Myaskovskiy was
arrested just weeks after Hilary filed court papers accusing
Myaskovskiy and his roommate David Joseph Klein of stalking,
claiming that he had stated he was planning to buy a weapon and
"threatened to kill himself and to engage in dramatic actions" to
get Hilary's attention because he "believes they belong
together."
Myaskovskiy was sentenced to 117 days in jail and five years
probation.
