Freida Pinto struggled with Trishna filming
Actress Freida Pinto felt drained and exhausted after shooting upcoming movie Trishna in rural India.
The Slumdog Millionaire star completed the project in the state of Rajasthan, rising every morning to eat hand-pounded bread with a spicy chutney, which helped kill the bacteria in the water, and shoot all day in a crowded shack, which housed most of the crew.
And Pinto, who plays the titular character, a poor woman scraping
by on a meagre living, admits the drama was a struggle to get
through, telling the New York Daily News, "Sometimes I feel that
this film has drained everything out of me. I had nothing
left."
But the Mumbai-born actress insists she welcomed the challenge as
an actress, adding, "When I shot 'Slumdog Millionaire,' I felt like
I was shooting in my backyard. But when I was shooting in rural
India, it felt like a different world. I learned a lot, I learned
to milk a cow!"
