Fifth Harmony's Normani defends comments about bandmate Camila
Fifth Harmony's Normani Kordei has blasted feud rumors between bandmate Camila Cabello and herself.
Earlier this week (beg01Aug16) Normani, 20, gave a Facebook Live interview to Galore magazine and was asked to name the best qualities of the other girls in the group. While her answers for Lauren Jauregui, Ally Brooke and Dinah-Jane Hansen were full of praise, she kept her commentary for Camila short and sweet, describing her as “quirky” and “cute”.
Fans were quick to interpret her blunt response as a dig, forcing
Normani to dispel rumors of a feud.
"I would like to address an issue that has been completely blown
out of proportion," Normani started in a note posted on her Twitter
page on Friday morning (05Aug16).
"It is a shame that after four years together as a group I have to
address foolishness manufactured by those that have absolutely no
idea what goes on. I have shown nothing but commitment for the
success of Fifth Harmony, even promoting on my days off, but yet I
always find myself as the target of unjust hate and slander."
She continued to insist she gives “110 per cent” on and off the
stage, and despite her efforts has learnt people won’t always treat
her with the respect she deserves. Most importantly, Normani is
adamant she holds “love and respect” for all four of her bandmates
and even if people fail to believe her, she says her conscience is
clear.
Concluding her long note, the singer asked fans to let the Fifth
Harmony girls write their own story rather than writing it for
them, finishing with the line: “I am the keeper of my heart and I’m
not meant for everyone to understand but you can respect me while
trying to.”
Camila, 19, has yet to respond to the backlash of her bandmate's
comment, but has been keeping active on social media. On Thursday
she wished President Barack Obama a happy birthday, noting she was
sad it was his last year of leadership ahead of the November (16)
election.
