Eva Longoria: 'I'd like to elope'
Eva Longoria is secretly longing to elope with her new fiance Jose Baston as she prepares to walk down the aisle for the third time.
The former Desperate Housewives star became engaged to the Mexican TV executive during a romantic proposal in Dubai in December (15), and she recently admitted they had yet to start making plans for their big day.
"We haven't even discussed it," she told Today on Monday (04Jan16).
"I'm still in the glow of the engagement. I'm still applauding him
for how beautiful and amazing it was, then we'll talk about the big
fat Mexican wedding."
Eva now confesses she would prefer to keep the nuptials a more
intimate affair.
"I mean, I would like to elope," she tells People.com, before
laughing, "Free of guests and guest lists and things like
that!"
However, the bride-to-be doubts the newly-engaged couple's families
will let the pair get away with a small celebration, and whatever
she decides, Eva predicts her future husband, 47, will be very
involved with all the details.
"We call him 'Mr. Fancy Pants' because he always has a pocket
square and a suit," says the 40-year-old. "He's super stylish. He
loves fashion way more than I do!"
The actress, who was married to Tyler Christopher and basketball
player Tony Parker, previously told People romance was the last
thing on her mind when she first met Jose.
"I was getting out of a bad relationship, and he was getting out of
a relationship, so there wasn't a connection," Eva said. "We had a
pleasant conversation, but there was no real connection."
It was only six months later, when they were introduced again by
the same mutual friend, that Eva discovered their chemistry.
"I had no memory of meeting him the first time, but we had
immediate sparks," she laughed. "It was like the cliche angels
singing and there was a glow around him and it was immediate
chemistry. He was the most handsome man I'd ever seen. He was so
charismatic, charming, sweet and funny. I thought, 'Who is this
guy?'"
