Eminem becomes first artist to land two digital diamond awards from RIAA
Eminem has made music history by becoming the first artist to surpass the 10 million sales and streams mark with two separate singles.
The Lose Yourself hitmaker will receive two Digital Single Diamond Awards from officials at the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), in recognition of the stellar success of his track Not Afraid and his Rihanna collaboration, Love the Way You Lie, which both featured on his 2010 album Recovery.
RIAA chairman/CEO Cary Sherman says, "We are delighted to recognize
Eminem as the first artist to earn two RIAA Digital Diamond
Awards.
"This singular achievement - earning a Diamond Award on two
separate digital songs - is unparalleled, and we congratulate him
on forever etching a mark in Gold & Platinum Program history."
RIAA bosses launched the Digital Single Award in 2004 and added
music streams to the sales count last year (13).
Lady Gaga recently became the first female artist to achieve
digital Diamond status with her song Bad Romance, while Justin
Bieber claimed the same accolade last summer (13) after hitting the
10 million milestone with Baby.
