Keira Knightley avoids expensive living to keep friends

Actress Keira Knightley shuns an expensive Hollywood lifestyle to ensure she can still relate to her less well off friends.

The Atonement star regularly earns huge salaries for appearing in blockbusters such as Pirates of the Caribbean, but gives herself a spending cap so she is not "alienated" from people around her who have to be more thrifty.

She tells Glamour magazine, "I think living an expensive lifestyle means you can't hang out with people who don't live that lifestyle. It alienates you. Some of my best most hilarious times have been in the least luxurious places."
