Dylan Sprayberry kept in the dark over Superman role
Dylan Sprayberry had no idea he was auditioning for a role in Superman blockbuster Man Of Steel when he entered the casting process because the tryouts were kept completely secret.
The child actor plays a young Clark Kent in the new superhero film, while British star Henry Cavill takes over as the character grows up.
However, Sprayberry admits he wasn't told he was in line for the
coveted job until his third audition.
He tells MTV.com, "I probably went in about four or five times for
the audition and they were keeping everything really under wraps.
They didn't want anyone to know what it was for, they wouldn't tell
me anything. I did a monologue from (1986 film) Stand By Me... I
got the third callback and I found out that it was going to be for
Superman and... that's when I met (director) Zack and (producer)
Deborah Snyder... I kept going back in a few times just to match up
and make sure that I look like Henry."
He adds of landing his dream role, "I think a lot of the percentage
of young boys when they are growing up want to be a superhero. I
know I did. I would put a towel on my back, run around, and across
my couch and try to practice flying and things like that. So I was
definitely a fan just of superheroes in general and then you have
Superman the ultimate superhero - it was like a dream come
true."
