Drake has slammed reports he asked a woman at his concert to remove her hijab.

The Hotline Bling rapper was reportedly caught on camera at one of his gigs at the O2 venue in London earlier this month (Feb17) telling the female fan to take off the veil that is traditionally worn by Muslim women.

Editors at Hot New Hip Hop report the Canadian star said in the clip, "You got on that hot a** scarf right there, you might wanna take this off. You gotta turn this motherf***er. You gotta come out of that sh**." It was not clear if the fan was wearing a hijab.

The video, which has since been deleted, has been slammed by Drake on social media, who called it a "fake media story".

"I make a point every night to end my shows on a time of unity and love so, to find out that I am being utilized (sic) in a fake media story about me disrespecting Muslims is devastating to me," he captioned a shot of him on stage on Friday (10Feb17) on Instagram.

"At my show I'm the O2 in London I was talking to 4 women one of whom was wearing a jacket and a winter scarf, I made a comment about taking off the scarf because I enjoy a friendly banter with the fans. I am well aware of what a hijab is and I would never make a disrespectful comment like that in my life towards someone who is wearing one," Drake added.

He concluded, "I am proud that my closest friends and fans come from all different religions and races, perhaps whoever made up this story should spend more time learning about other cultures and less time trying to divide us."

The rapper, real name Aubrey Drake Graham, has been the subject of intense criticism on Twitter, who said his reported comments are racist.

Drake has been hard at work in the U.K. since the beginning of February (17), wowing fans on the U.K. leg of his Boy Meets World Tour, as well as putting the finishing touches to his More Life playlist project.
