Drake and Eminem surprise fans in Detroit
Drake surprised fans in Detroit as he brought out one of the city's most famous exports out on stage - Eminem.
The Canadian rapper was performing at the Joe Louis Arena on Tuesday (16Aug16) on his Summer Sixteen Tour, when he introduced Marshall Mathers to his home crowd.
"Detroit, make some noise for the greatest rapper that ever got on
a... microphone," Drake shouted to the crowd, who erupted in
screams and roars, Billboard.com.
Eminem's cameo marks the first time he's graced a Detroit stage
since November (15), and his brief appearance on stage was welcomed
by the shell-shocked crowd.
The 43-year-old rapper rose from below the stage to join Drake on
his track Forever toward the end of the two-and-a-half hour set,
but he was drowned out by the screams and cheers from the fans.
Eminem later encouraged the crowd to make some noise for the
Hotline Bling hitmaker, before leaving the stage with, "Detroit, I
love you. I'm out."
Drake later posted a snap of the pair on Instagram, with the
caption, "SHARED THE STAGE WITH THE GOAT (Greatest of All Time) FOR
DETROIT. DONE THE HYPE (sic)."
On Tuesday, Drake seemingly referenced the surprise he had in store
for his unsuspecting Detroit crowd. He told them at the beginning
of the gig, "Do you think we'll be able to look back and say: 'Do
you remember that one night in Detroit?'"
The rapper will continue on his Summer Sixteen Tour on Wednesday
(17Aug16), when he heads to Pittsburgh.
