Cindy Crawford's bone marrow donor appeal a success
A young leukemia sufferer has been given a second chance at life after successfully finding a bone marrow donor with the help of supermodel Cindy Crawford.
Chase Foley was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia when he was four weeks old and he desperately needed a bone marrow transplant to save his life.
Crawford, who has been working with non-profit organization Delete
Blood Cancer DKMS since 2007, lost her brother to the blood cancer
when she was a young child, and after hearing about the
two-year-old's ordeal, the beauty felt compelled to lend a
hand.
On Thursday (10Jul14), she urged fans to register as potential
donors via People.com and just a day later (11Jul14), a match for
Foley was found.
Katharina Harf, co-founder of Delete Blood Cancer DKMS, says, "We
are so happy that little Chase found a match, which will give him a
second chance at life.
"We are also so grateful for Cindy Crawford's involvement with
Delete Blood Cancer DKMS and her continuing fight to find donors
for the thousands of other children who are still hoping to find a
match. We hope people will continue to register as donors to help
the children in their fight."
