Ciara canceled North Carolina wedding over 'Bathroom Bill'

Newlyweds Ciara and Russell Wilson axed plans to wed in North Carolina after lawmakers introduced controversial anti-transgender laws.

The 'Bathroom Bill', which forces transgender residents to use gender-specific restrooms, was introduced in the state earlier this year (16), while the Goodies singer and her man were planning their nuptials.

The couple's wedding planner Mindy Weiss has now revealed a venue in North Carolina was at the top of their list as a venue.

"They were first getting married in North Carolina, but they called it off due to the transgender bathroom laws," she tells bridal website The Knot, revealing it wasn't the only time she had to rethink the pair's big day.

"I did the whole thing - three times," she explains.

The couple's next choice was Paris, but those plans also fell through, since their dates clashed with Couture Fashion Week.

Ciara and Russell refused to give up on their dreams for a destination wedding, and they finally settled on Peckforton Castle, a 19th century venue in Cheshire, England.

Mindy, who also served as the wedding planner for Ciara's bridesmaid La La Anthony, gushed over the lovebirds' big day, saying, "I think my favorite part of Ciara and Russell’s wedding was the ceremony because they were so happy. They are delicious. They really are a very cool couple. I really enjoy their relationship."

The couple wed on 6 July (16), and Ciara previously told People.com that despite the multiple location changes, the castle venue turned out to be perfect.

"Our wedding was like a fairytale," she said. "We loved the countryside. We looked at a venue in the U.S., but we also looked abroad, and England just seemed magical and perfect."
