Christina Grimmie's family salute the star a month after her death
Christina Grimmie's family has paid tribute to the late singer, a month after her shocking murder.
The former The Voice finalist, 22, was gunned down by 27-year-old deranged fan Kevin James Loibl at a post-concert meet and greet in Orlando, Florida on 11 June (16).
Friends and fans have rallied round her parents, Bud and Tina, and
her brother Marcus - who tried in vain to save his sister on the
night of the shooting - and a month after her passing, the family
has released a statement to thank everyone who has helped them
through their nightmare.
"The outpouring of love and generosity that has been displayed to
our family throughout these last few weeks has far exceeded
anything we could have ever imagined," they told People Magazine in
a statement. "As we have always known, Christina's life was so very
special, not only to us, but to everyone she touched with her
joyful heart, beautiful voice and love for life and the Lord."
Following Christina's death, her coach on The Voice, Maroon 5
frontman Adam Levine, offered to pay for her funeral, while Selena
Gomez's stepfather Brian Teefey, who was the tragic young star's
manager, created a GoFundMe page to raise money to support the
family.
Christina's funeral took place on 16 June in New Jersey, and
thousands of mourners attended a public memorial the following day,
and the family were truly touched by how much their daughter and
sibling meant to people.
"Words cannot express what the many memorials, donations and
tributes shared by Christina's fans and those in the media and
entertainment industry mean to us," they continued. "She will live
on in our hearts forever. We will take our time in determining the
best ways to honor Christina moving forward."
