Chrissy Teigen wants to learn to swim for daughter Luna
Model Chrissy Teigen is finally taking to the water to learn to swim, because of her daughter Luna.
The star became a first-time mother in April (16), when she gave birth to her little girl, and while Luna is too small to swim right now, a family trip to the Hamptons in New York over the Independence Day weekend (02-04July16) made her realize that she and her husband John Legend need to master the art of staying afloat for when their child is old enough to take lessons.
"I was in the pool today, I can't swim, but I'm trying to learn for
Luna, of course," Chrissy told People magazine at the Revolve
summer house in Southampton, New York, where she hosted a barbecue.
"There is nothing I want to do more than to get her into the water
and for her to learn to swim."
"John can't swim, either, and we don't want to be helpless in any
way, so we're going to try to learn for Luna. We're going to have
someone come to the house."
The news comes a day after the model shared pictures on her
Instagram page from the event - one features the pair lying on an
inflatable enjoying the sun, while another pokes fun at her lack of
swimming skills; it features Chrissy splashing into the water with
the caption "#cantswim".
However, the 30-year-old new mom was quick to point out to the
outlet that the couple's inability to swim has nothing to do with a
fear of the water - they just didn't get an opportunity to learn
when they were growing up.
"I have no fear of water. John has no fear of water," she said. "Or
animals, or sharks or what have you. We just didn't have water in
our face when we were growing up. It wasn't something where we were
dunked. I just want to make sure that she (Luna) feels that she can
cope with it."
