Chloe Grace Moretz defends her role in Kim Kardashian feud

Actress Chloe Grace Moretz has defended comments she made about Kim Kardashian's nude selfie.

The 19-year-old waded into the controversy surrounding the reality star's naked picture by attempting to remind Kim she had many young fans who look up to her last week (ends11Mar16).

"I truly hope you realize how important setting goals are for young women, teaching them we have so much more to offer than just our bodies," the Kick-Ass star wrote on Twitter.

Kim immediately hit back at the teen, who was also accused of 's**t shaming' the reality TV star, but Chloe was quick to stand up for herself.

"There’s a huge difference in respecting the platform that you’re given as a celebrity and ‘s**t shaming’ something I never have done and would never do,” she added.

A week on, the teen told Elle.com she wishes people had been more open-minded about the message she was trying to make online.

"I think a lot of things can be misconstrued in a lot of ways," she said, "and I think if people open their minds more, and they try to look deeper into something than just something that is a very big, hot, fiery button to hide behind... I think if people looked into something bigger that I was trying to speak upon, they wouldn't be so easy to fire back silly, miscellaneous things."

She might be a teen but Chloe knows how hard it can be to navigate the treacherous waters of social media and she is happy to impart words of advice to her fans on how to best represent themselves online.

"Depict yourself adequately as what you want to be seen as," she added. "Don't front, don't put something out there that you feel isn't realistic and doesn't portray who you are. Just be yourself, be you, and don't be afraid to speak your mind."
