Charlie Sheen's attorney brands Denise Richards 'greedy'
Denise Richards is "simply being greedy" by filing a lawsuit against Charlie Sheen, according to the actor's attorney.
Richards launched a $1.2 million legal battle with her ex-husband on Thursday (21Jan16), accusing him of breaking his promise to financially support their two daughters - Sam and Lola.
However, Sheen's lawyer Marty Singer is adamant the legal action is
about "nothing more than money, money, money".
"Denise Richards is not satisfied that she has received $660,000
tax free each year for almost 10 years," he adds. "It is not enough
money for her, besides the approximate $10 million she has received
from Charlie under her short marriage."
According to legal documents obtained by editors at People.com,
Richards is seeking the million dollar figure to purchase a new
home. She claims Sheen promised to provide her and their daughters
with housing, but allegedly evicted them from a property he had
bought for them.
Richards' lawyer Patty Glaser tells People.com that Singer's
comments are "inappropriate".
"Not only are Mr. Singer's comments about Ms. Richards blatantly
inaccurate, they're also inappropriate, and unprofessional," Glaser
says. "Ms. Richards is doing everything she can to protect her
children from the fallout of Mr. Sheen's erratic lifestyle and its
enormously negative impact on their children."
Singer responds, "I've been representing Charlie for more than 20
years. Patty is just the latest in a long string of lawyers who
Denise has hired to squeeze as much money as she can out of
Charlie. This motion has nothing do with their children. Denise is
simply being greedy... She's asking Charlie to pay her more money
so she can buy a second home because one $7 million home isn't
enough for her."
Richards broke her silence on the lawsuit on Friday (22Jan16), and
insisting the money she is seeking is for her daughters. "Marty
Singer u (sic) being the trustee should support a mom fighting to
keep it intact for the children. It's their money, not mine or your
client," she posted on Twitter.com.
