Brad and Angelina's kids are learning seven languages

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's six children are staying true to their global lifestyle by learning seven different languages.

The Mr. and Mrs. Smith stars are parents to Shiloh, 10, and twins Vivienne and Knox, seven, as well as adopted kids Maddox, 14, from Cambodia, Pax, 12, from Vietnam, and Zahara, 11, from Ethiopia, and the couple are making sure the savvy six are all multi-lingual by encouraging them to learn other languages besides English.

In an interview during her stint as a special guest editor on BBC Radio 4's Women's Hour on Friday (17Jun16), Angelina revealed, "I asked them what languages they wanted to learn and Shiloh's learning Khmer, which is the Cambodian language, Pax is focusing on Vietnamese, Mad has taken to German and Russian, Zahara's speaking French, Vivienne really wanted to learn Arabic and Knox is learning sign language."

And her daughter Shiloh's interest in her brother Maddox's native tongue has inspired Jolie to get in touch with her first son's roots - he's the main reason why she is directing a film in Cambodia, about the Khmer Rouge genocide in the 1970s.

Angelina explained it was actually Maddox who encouraged his mom to take on the movie project, because he was interested in learning about his roots and figured the film was the perfect way to do it.

Angelina explained, "We'd done this screenplay and put it aside and it was Mad who came up to me and said it was time to do that film and learn about the history of his country, and he wanted to do it and go there and understand it."

Maddox is also working behind the scenes on the film, which his mom is planning to premiere in Cambodia later this year (16), ahead of its release on Netflix.

Maddox was just one when Jolie adopted him in 2002. He is now 14.
