Blake Lively's facial woes
Blake Lively ends up looking like "a Saturday Night Live sketch for middle school puberty skin" whenever she has a facial.
The 28-year-old actress is envied for her glowing complexion, which she has been showing off at the Cannes Film Festival in France while promoting her new movie, Cafe Society. Her flawless looks have seen her appointed as a L'Oreal Paris brand ambassador, but she admits her skincare regime often slacks when she doesn't have a helping hand.
"I always want to say I have a good one," she sighed to Britain's
Vogue magazine, admitting she'll probably return to using hotel
soap to clean her face when she gets back to the U.S., after being
spoilt with L'Oreal products while in Cannes.
"I spent time in the L'Oreal laboratories and you get to see the
differences in the anti-ageing studies - you see it working right
there in front of you and it's amazing. And you think, why wouldn't
I do this 37 times a day? But that's the hard part - you get
excited and adopt a regime, but then you kind of forget it...
"And I've broken out every time I've had a facial. I've done it
about four times in my life and every time I've ended up looking
like a Saturday Night Live sketch for middle school puberty
skin."
Doing her own make-up isn't an area of expertise either, and Blake
admits the few occasions that it's happened were due to her
forgetting to arrange a professional,or for a last-minute event.
She does, however, get involved with the transformation, including
the outfits she sports on the red carpet.
Blake has been wowing in some gorgeous gowns on the red carpet in
France recently, including a baby-blue Vivienne Westwood number
with a billowing skirt. It triggered numerous comparisons to
Cinderella, which the blonde beauty can understand.
"Because the dress was this very princessy ballgown that was very
feminine, it could have gone saccharine - which was not helped by
the fact that Lorraine (Schwartz) and I thought it would be great
to wear this beautiful headband," she said. "So then with the
make-up I couldn't do a soft beautiful glowy make-up and a pink
nail and a strappy, sparkly shoe because I would have looked like a
caricature. So what we did is a platinum sparkle nail to give it a
little funk and I wore a Louboutin (bag) that was almost like
golden flames on aqua suede."
