Ben Stiller 'sad' he never cleared the air with Joan Rivers
Actor Ben Stiller is disappointed he never got the chance to clear the air with catty comedienne Joan Rivers to end their years-long feud before her death last year (14).
The Meet the Parents star, son of comedians Jerry Stiller and Anne Meara, opened up about the dispute during a candid chat with shock jock Howard Stern on Wednesday (25Mar15), revealing he could never understand why Rivers thought he was "arrogant", because he doesn't recall ever falling out with her.
He said, "She had a thing about it. She didn't like me. I'm glad
you're bringing this up. Because I never had an interaction with
her."
His comments prompted Stern and his co-host Robin Quivers to
explain Rivers' side of the story, claiming the late Fashion Police
co-host held a grudge against Stiller because he "ignored her on
the red carpet".
Taking in the information, Stiller replied, "Oh, is that what it
is? OK, this is helping me, because I didn't understand why she
didn't like me. I mean, I can understand when someone doesn't like
me - whatever... you're allowed to have your opinion. But she had a
thing because she was friends with my parents."
Stiller struggles to recall the alleged snub, but he insists he
never held any hard feelings against Rivers.
The actor added, "She was great. I feel bad that we never got to
work that out. It is sad. My parents were really friends with her
and spent a lot of time and worked together with her, and she had
an amazing career."
Rivers died in September (14) following a botched throat
operation.
