Austin Mahone: 'I'm on the mend'

Teen idol Austin Mahone has assured fans he's on the mend after surgery to remove a blood clot in his throat.

The What About Love singer had to scrap tour dates after falling ill last month (Oct13) and he's now back home trying to rush his recovery, so he can get back to work.

The 17 year old tells People.com, "I feel a lot better. I'm still trying to get to 100 per cent, but I'm taking it one step at a time."

He reveals he knew his condition was much more than just a sore throat when he couldn't swallow solid food.

He adds, "I started feeling a little bump in my throat. Every time I swallowed, it would be scratchy, it would hurt and I had the chills... It made my throat hurt so bad, for three days straight I wasn't even eating solid food."

But he insists he isn't simply resting up - he's been researching non-stop for his return to the stage.

He explains, "I watched YouTube videos of people I look up to, so next time I do a show, I can do better and be better."

Mahone is planning to stage his comeback at radio station KISS-FM's Jingle Ball in Dallas, Texas on 2 December (13).
