Ashley Olsen quits acting for good
Ashley Olsen has no plans to return to Hollywood to act, eight years after abandoning her screen career to focus on fashion.
Olsen and her twin sister Mary-Kate began acting at just nine months old, when they were cast in hit sitcom Full House, and they went on to star in a string of TV movies and films like New York Minute in 2004.
But the identical siblings moved away from the spotlight later that
year to concentrate on the launch of their The Row fashion label -
and Ashley hasn't looked back since.
She tells Britain's Elle magazine, "We worked non-stop until we
were 18. Then we decided to take a break and go to school - and
that was when we decided to question whether we would carry on in
entertainment. It was time to step behind the process. I wanted to
work on other things."
The 25 year old insists she hasn't completely fallen out of love
with the film industry, but suggests that if she ever did decide to
return to her entertainment roots, all her work would be behind the
camera.
She says, "It doesn't mean I'm not interested in Hollywood, I like
the way it operates and the people who are involved and the sense
of possibility. But if I ever do get back in, it's not going to be
as an actress. It just felt right to move away."
Mary-Kate Olsen, however, has continued to pick up acting jobs here
and there - she last appeared on the big screen in 2011's fantasy
movie Beastly. And the twins' younger sister Elizabeth is now a
bona-fide star after her acclaimed role in 2011 movie Martha Marcy
May Marlene.
