Anton Yelchin laid to rest
Anton Yelchin's friends and family reportedly paid their respects to the actor at a private funeral on Friday (24Jun16).
The Star Trek actor was pinned between his car and a brick pillar after the vehicle rolled backwards down the steep driveway of his home in San Fernando Valley, California on 19 June (16).
The 27-year-old's death was ruled an accident by the Los Angeles
coroner's office report, which revealed he was killed within a
minute or so from blunt traumatic asphyxia from the force of the
car.
He has now been laid to rest, according to E! News, who confirmed a
funeral service was held at an undisclosed location on Friday,
attended by friends and family.
After news of his death broke, many actors, including his Star Trek
co-stars, took to social media to pay tribute to him.
"Our dear friend," Zachary Quinto wrote on Instagram. "Our comrade.
our anton. one of the most open and intellectually curious people i
have ever had the pleasure to know. so enormously talented and
generous of heart. wise beyond his years. and gone before his
time..."
"Devastated by our friend's loss. We are mourning his passing and
celebrating the beautiful spirit that he was. #RIPAnton," Zoe
Saldana added following tributes from actor John Cho, and Star Trek
directors J.J. Abrams and Justin Lin.
Since his death, it has been revealed his model of Jeep Grand
Cherokee was subject to a product recall in April (16) regarding
problems with the gearbox in which drivers thought they were in
park when they were actually in neutral.
Executives at Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, who manufacture the Jeep,
received a class action lawsuit last week (ends26Jun16) from three
plaintiffs who accuse them of intentionally covering up fatal
design flaws and deaths from the defects.
