Angelina Jolie sees warlord sentenced in child soldiers scandal

Angelina Jolie attended the International Criminal Court on Wednesday (14Mar12) to watch as an African warlord was convicted of recruiting child soldiers.

Jolie, a Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, arrived at the hearing in The Hague, Netherlands and sat in the public gallery as a verdict was returned on Congolese monster Thomas Lubanga.

The former rebel leader was found guilty of abducting kids in the Democratic Republic of Congo and using them as soldiers between 1998 and 2003, and now faces life in jail.

After the hearing, Jolie told the Daily Telegraph, "I think the most important thing is this is a very young court, it's a very new court. This particular case was about the conscription of child soldiers, and so many witnesses, over 60 people came in, young people came in, and spoke about what happened to them and because they were unable to have court proceedings in their country, they asked for this."
