Amy Schumer has cancelled her stand-up tour in Australia and New Zealand due to illness.

The Inside Amy Schumer star's tour was set to kick off in Perth on Saturday (10Dec16) with dates in arenas across Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney and Auckland, New Zealand to follow. However, the shows have been called off as she is battling an illness.

Promoters Live Nation released a statement on Monday (05Dec16), in which they apologised for any "disappointment" caused by the cancellation. They added that "due to Amy Schumer's tight schedule it is not possible to schedule replacement dates" but they will be working to organise her return to the cities impacted "as soon as is practical".

The nature of her illness was not specified and the actress hadn't commented on her condition on social media, although it was alluded to in a recent Instagram post, which showed a screengrab of a text exchange between Amy and her boyfriend Ben Hanisch after he sent her a picture of her stuffed animals on a bed.

"Your dolls are on the bed... now there are diseases on the bed" he wrote and she replied, "Hahahahahaha... Yes!!!!!!"

Amy had recently completed her North American tour, finishing up in San Diego, California on Saturday (03Dec16). She had shared pictures on social media of her road trip down to the city with her sister Kim and brother Jason.

In one caption, she wrote, "(Comedian) @clubsodakenny killed it tonight and I was ok. #sandiego."

Amy looks set for a busy 2017 with the release of movie Thank You for Your Service and her Mother/Daughter project with Goldie Hawn.
